MADISON, Wis. — To some, it may seem like just another fundraiser. But to members of Cardiac on Campus and over 300,000 other Americans, the Red Tutu Trot is more than a campus event.
Nine out of 10 victims will die from sudden cardiac arrest. Currently, only one-third of victims receive a life-saving intervention from bystanders.
But the club hopes to change this. By raising awareness of heart health and sponsoring free CPR and AED training, they hope these classes will help to save lives within the community. Five hundred people attended to the race, and they hope to keep expanding that awareness throughout the rest of the year.
Cardiac on Campus is a relatively new student organization. But after just a year on campus, they have already raised significant awareness about heart health.
